Daniel Tomelin – Mar 10, 2026 – Kelowna, British Columbia

Daniel Tomelin, a Kelowna-area food producer and long-time practitioner of deep mulch gardening, testifies about the loss of agricultural viability for small growers in the Okanagan. He discusses the removal of farm status from land used for collective food production, the decline of local packing facilities, the impact of land use and taxation decisions on small farmers and orchardists, and his efforts to teach younger people soil-based growing methods focused on food security and stewardship.
