About the National Citizens Inquiry

The National Citizens Inquiry is a citizen-led and citizen-funded effort to examine Canada’s response to COVID-19, among other important topics.
The NCI’s purpose is to listen, to learn, and to recommend. What went right? What went wrong? How can Canadians and our governments react to national crises in the future in a manner that balances the interests, needs and rights of all members of our society?
The NCI is volunteer run and completely independent of government.

In 2023, the NCI held 24 days of hearings in eight cities from Truro to Vancouver to learn how all levels of government responded to covid. Over 300 witnesses testified under oath. On November 28, 2023, the NCI released the Commissioners’ final report .

In 2024, Canadians told us we were not finished. We responded with Hearings in Regina with new information on Covid. The testimony given added to the body of evidence that the Commissioners then used to issue their Supplemental Report (released on November 28, 2024).
In October of 2024 the National Citizens Inquiry broke new ground by holding hearings in Vancouver on the topic: Are Children Safe in Canada? This vast question brought forth testimony in areas ranging from Food to Children’s Health.
The NCI has now heard from over 365 witnesses all sworn under oath. We have the largest and most credible collection of evidence on the covid event in the world. The Commission has asked for more testimony that lead us to listen, learn and recommend, this coming March 6, 7 and 8th, 2025, in Edmonton, Alberta.
