Kelowna, March 9-11, 2026

The National Citizens Inquiry will convene the first special public hearing; “Are Farmers Safe in Canada” to examine urgent questions at the heart of Canada’s food legislative and regulatory system.

Henry Kissenger famously stated, “Who controls the food supply controls the people.”

Recent events, including the shutting down of agriculture research facilities and the highly publicized universal ostrich cull, have drawn international attention to the powers exercised by Canadian government authorities and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), placing a public spotlight on regulatory practices that can profoundly affect Canadians, farmers, animals, and Canadians.

The Inquiry will hear testimony on food safety and security, labeling and consumer awareness, livestock tracking and premises identification systems, and the real-world impact of regulation on farm and ranching livelihoods. Witnesses will also address the growing influence of corporate (Big Pharma) and special interests, the use of vaccines, chemicals, controversial regulations and other inputs in food production, including lab grown meat and milk, and the ethical considerations that shape how food is grown and distributed.

Through this hearing, the National Citizens Inquiry seeks to build a clear public record so Canadians can better understand how farm and food policy decisions are being made—and why they matter to us all.
