Graff drew on his livestock-nutrition and agricultural consulting experience to explain how sulfur and other industrial emissions can interfere with mineral uptake, immune function, fertility, neurological health, growth, and milk production in cattle. He then compared existing Alberta natural-gas flaring and venting with the scale of gas consumption he estimated would be required by proposed AI data centres using on-site generation. He argued that concentrating generation at large data-centre sites could expose surrounding farms to much higher levels of sulfur dioxide, benzene, and other pollutants, increasing livestock illness, infertility, production losses, and potentially human-health risks. He also raised concerns about the water required for cooling large power-generation systems and called for greater scrutiny of AI data-centre development in agricultural regions.
