David Grant – Aug 20, 2026 – High River, Alberta

Grant drew on his engineering and laboratory-testing background to argue that government test methods should undergo efficacy and repeatability testing, use appropriate controls, and be published in enough detail for independent replication. He questioned the use and interpretation of PCR testing in disease detection, argued that producers should be permitted to resample and retest animals, and said CFIA should publish the data and reasoning behind culling and other disease-control decisions. He also discussed infection vectors, the need to compare culling with less drastic alternatives, and the importance of ongoing testing for chemical contamination and mislabeling in imported food.
