High River Hearings – August 18 to 20, 2026
Are Farmers Safe in Canada?
The National Citizens Inquiry will convene three days of public hearings in High River, Alberta, to continue examining urgent questions affecting Canadian farmers, agriculture and food security.
Farmers, researchers, agricultural professionals, policy experts and other witnesses will present firsthand testimony, evidence and informed analysis concerning the pressures facing Canada’s agricultural sector and food system.
The hearings will explore issues including agricultural regulation, rising costs, land use, food production, market conditions, biosecurity, food access and the future of independent and family farming in Canada.
The hearings are open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. Guests may register for any combination of the afternoon hearings, community dinners and evening hearings offered on August 18, 19 and 20.
Admission to the hearings is free. A complimentary community dinner will be available each day to registered guests who make a donation of $25 or more per person for that day’s dinner.
The hearing location will not be published publicly. Registered guests will receive the venue name, full address and attendance information by email following registration.
As this is a quasi-judicial public inquiry, guests are asked to follow the instructions provided by volunteers, maintain respectful silence while testimony is being given and silence all electronic devices during the hearings.
