A mother of two special needs children, Renate testifies on her experiences during the covid-19 crisis in Canada, how lockdowns and school closures affected her family, and she shares her interpretations of how the Canadian government started to make distinctions between ‘essential’ and ‘non-essential’ parts of society, eyeing concerns of history and lessons humanity learned the hard way, when a small number of people decide who is or is not essential.
